Kudos to DISH Network

FOX News is a little upset. You see, they say their free speech right to be a big fat, lying corporation politically slanted entertainment network is being suppressed by the DISH Network taking them off of the network. Never mind that FOX would normally defend a corporation's right to show any kind of programming it wants on it's own airwaves, they're upset because DISH is picking on them for their conservative views, supposedly. I mean, it's UnAmerican, right?

First off, DISH owns it's own airwaves, it can decide what it wants on. Freedom, right? Second off, it's never so simple:

Dish Television dropped both Fox News and the Fox Business Network on Dec. 21, citing an impasse in negotiations with the Fox, claiming the network is leveraging its most popular programming in order to extort higher fees for less desirable channels.

In a public relations battle with Dish, Fox set up a Facebook page allowing their loyal viewers to vent at the satellite provider, while encouraging them to drop their Dish subscriptions.

Dish Network CEO Charlie Ergen recently issued a video response to Fox, decrying their tactics and calling it “extortion.”

“Ironically, Fox News would be the first network to decry this kind of deal-making,” Ergen said. “There’s nothing about this extortion attempt that was fair or balanced.”

So basically, FOX is mad that DISH is exercising it's right to own their own programming. FOX does that ever day. FOX is mad that it's going to lose money. Oh well. Greed makes great hypocrites.
