As the calendar turned from September to October, and the leaves began to fall from the trees, the old Green Day song "Wake Me Up, When September Ends" ran through my mind. Baseball season ended, and the playoffs began. Football was ongoing at all levels. The NBA tipped off. Hockey was back. October is the best month for a fan, because everything is going on. It's also my busiest month of the year though, and I spent it mostly in New Jersey, working in the 12th Congressional district, staying very busy.
