- The Seattle Seahawks destroyed Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 48. Malcolm Smith won the MVP in the 43-8 rout.
- Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski opted out of a run for Pennsylvania Governor.
- Pennsylvania's State Democratic Party opted against endorsements in the Gubernatorial and Lt. Governor races.
- Trenton's former Mayor Tony Mack was convicted of corruption and bounced from office as a result.
- I did launch my campaign for Democratic State Committee by getting signatures on my petitions to run for one of the three Northampton County male bids.
- Derek Jeter announced his retirement, effective after the 2014 season.
- The Sochi Olympics kicked off, and entertained me. Especially my favorite skier, Julia Mancuso.
- 1993 Phillies Manager Jim Fregosi died. It was sad, that was my favorite team through my childhood in any sport.
- Bethlehem Catholic won the PIAA AA Wrestling Team Duals for the fourth straight year, while Nazareth finished third in class AAA. Phillipsburg captured the NJSIAA Group 4 title.
- Congressman Rush Holt announced his retirement in New Jersey. Holt once represented Hunterdon County, and represented Mercer, Middlesex, Somerset, and Union Counties.
- Phillipsburg's wrestling team was rocked by a racially charged picture that caused several members of their team to be thrown off the team.
- Protests break out in Kiev, Ukraine that would continue to rock the country for months to come.
- Dale Earnhardt Jr. won the Daytona 500.
- Elijah Brown kept Easton's 66 year long streak of having at least one District 11 wrestling champion.
