Well, the year is coming to an end, and there will be no more championships handed out in major American professional sports this year. With that, it's worth a look back.
- Tim Duncan and Coach Pop won their fifth ring in fifteen years. The San Antonio Spurs continued their dynasty in 2014. Kawhi Leonard won the MVP.
- Richard Sherman, Russell Wilson, and the Seattle Seahawks won the Super Bowl in the Meadowlands, beating the hell out of Peyton Manning and his Broncos. Malcolm Smith won the MVP award.
- Florida State ended the run of SEC Champs in the BCS, closing out college football's embattled system by beating Auburn for the title.
- The Sochi Olympics, embattled by Russian foreign policy and terror fears, went off without a hitch. Canada won both hockey disciplines in the games.
- The San Francisco Giants won their third World Series in five years, with Madison Bumgarner winning the MVP award.
- The 7th seeded UCONN Huskies won the NCAA Basketball tournament, beating Kentucky in the finals.
- Germany won the World Cup in Brazil, blowing out the hosts in the semi-finals in a shocker.
- LeBron James returned to the Cleveland Cavaliers, choosing them in free agency.
- The Los Angeles Kings won the Stanley Cup for the second time in three years. Justin Williams won the Conn Smythe award.
- Mike Trout signed a $144 million deal to stay with the Angels.
- Vanderbilt beat UVA to win the College World Series.
- Clayton Kershaw signed a contract extension with the Dodgers for over $300 million.
- Marcus Mariota won the Heisman Trophy.
- Derek Jeter retired from baseball, hitting a walk-off single in his final at-bat at Yankees Stadium in the Bronx.
- Kobe Bryant passed Michael Jordan for third all-time in points scored.
