So now we know who plays who, and who the last two teams in were gonna be. Carolina won the NFC South. Baltimore got the AFC's second Wild Card. Pittsburgh won the AFC North. Green Bay won the NFC North. Denver has a bye. Seattle has the NFC West and home field. Everything is done.
Next Saturday, the 4:20 pm game is in Charlotte, where the Carolina Panthers host the Arizona Cardinals. I would say Arizona is the better team, but Carolina is the hot team. They are also more healthy. They are at home. They have their starting quarterback. It's a shame that Arizona has had issues there, but if they don't get the QB spot settled, I have Carolina.
In the night game, Pittsburgh will host Baltimore in the game of the week, for my money. When these hated rivals kick-off at 8:15, we'll get our money's worth. Pittsburgh is on fire right now, and could be a real sleeper to go far. Baltimore won two years ago. It's a great match-up, and I have Pittsburgh winning.
On Sunday at 1 pm, Indianapolis will host a Cincinnati team who's probably fairly disappointed with their loss to Pittsburgh. They played well in beating Denver the week before, so which team are they? Which team is Indianapolis, the team that got crushed by Dallas, or the team that played most of the season. I'm going to say I don't trust either. I'll also say I think the Bengals beating Denver stands out to me the most, so I'll take them, despite being on the road.
In the final game, at 4 pm, Dallas will host Detroit. Detroit has a top-notch defense, a very good quarterback, and the best receiver alive. Dallas is playing well though, and will run the ball behind their big line at home to advance.
Despite all of that, I think both Dallas and Carolina will lose the next week, and New England will end up facing Pittsburgh in the AFC title game. I would say the two teams with home field advantage have such good track records that you should bet on them throughout.
