PA State Representative John Lawrence (R-Chester) has a wonderfully useless idea to kick off the new session in Harrisburg:
It's called priorities people. You voted these people in.
Actually, I don't have any idea why they would do this, or what voters care. Seriously. No one would find this useful, and it would cost us lots of money to do. We'd also not only spend the money, but use legislative time that we need for more pressing issues- our bankrupt schools, our terrible roads, our mass-transit systems, protecting our environment, fighting crime, and expanding Medicaid.... just to name a few.State lawmakers took their oath of office Tuesday, solemnly promising to uphold the U.S. and Pennsylvania constitutions. But it shouldn’t stop there, State Rep. John Lawrence, R-Chester says. They should swear to something else, too: that their pee is clean.Lawrence said candidates for state-level elected office should be subject to a drug test, and he is floating legislation that would require it.“I think that voters would be very interested in knowing,” Lawrence said. The rationale for it is simple. Plenty of private-sector employers require drug tests, and elected officials should be held to the same high standards, Lawrence said.
It's called priorities people. You voted these people in.
